ELSA

My name is Tracy Cowan and I am one of the schools ELSA's. Most of you will see me in the morning working as a class teaching assistant in Robin and wren and sadly not dressed as a snow queen with magical ice powers.

What is an ELSA?

ELSA's are emotional literacy support assistants. I have completed a special training programme from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children and young people in school. ELSA's help children and young people learn to understand their emotions and respect the feelings of those around them. They provide the time and space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and how they manage them.

Your child may be referred to me, by the class teacher or family support worker, to complete a course of interventions usually lasting about 6 weeks and i will be around to support children as needed.
