Reading Schemes & Tips

While children are in reception, year 1 and year 2, we use a reading scheme from Oxford Reading Tree to match the systematic synthetic phonics programme we teach in school. These are all decodable based on the learning children have done so far.

At St White's, we believe that learning doesn't have to stay in school. As parents, you can all help your children develop and progress more and more in the comfort of your own home, on a train journey, even on an aeroplane in the holidays simply by reading books. You don't even have to stick to school books. Any books, magazines or newspapers all help. To help parents with this we have attached some tips below to use during their early years and before they start school. Go on... grab a book.
