Year 6 Residential

Outward Bound - Aberdovey
In year 6, our children go to visit the Outward Bound centre at Aberdovey. The aim of the trip is to help them gain confidence; support their emotional wellbeing; improve their relationships; increase their resilience; give them confidence in learning; and improve their understanding of the natural environment. They do this through taking part in a week long residential where they greet challenges with a can do attitude. At the centre, the children have the opportunity to do adventurous on-site and off-site activities including gorge walking, team challenges and spending a day in the mountains. Throughout the week, the children commit to taking responsibility for their equipment and work as a team to make sure that their equipment cage has everything in it at the end of the week. Through team activities, they learn to communicate clearly to overcome any challenges they are faced with. At the end of the week, the children get the opportunity to come together for a campfire where they can reflect on the challenges they have faced and celebrate (with a marshmallow or two!). Throughout this incredible opportunity, they are always learning
